Supervision conducted on Ethiopian Electronic Public Procurement System Implementation Status

A rsupervision was conducted to assess the implementation status of the Ethiopian Electronic Public Procurement system. The supervision was carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Planning and Development, with the participation of various public institutions, including the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Information Network Security Administration, and the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The objective of this supervision was to evaluate the progress of the implementation, identify good practices and challenges, and highlight necessary reforms that the government should undertake at the policy and administrative levels to ensure the system's effectiveness.

During the supervision, the team visited the system infrastructure and observed the procedures for service delivery, as well as the support provided to suppliers and the public sector in utilizing the electronic procurement system. Subsequently, the Director General of the Public Procurement and Property Authority, H.E Ato Haji Ibsa, along with other leaders and experts, including the local company responsible for developing the electronic procurement system, provided an explanation of the implementation process. They discussed the current status, achievements, challenges, and issues that require the government's attention.

Based on the overall feedback received, the supervision team further inquired about the technical aspects of the system, its integration with other electronic systems, and the associated challenges and security risks. The Director General, H.E Ato Haji Ibsa, along with other leaders and experts, responded to these inquiries and provided additional information to the supervision committee.

In the coming days, the supervision team plans to consolidate a report on the system's status, lessons learned, challenges encountered, and issues that require the government's attention. This report will be based not only on the feedback received during the supervision but also on input from other stakeholders, particularly the system users such as public bodies and procurement suppliers. Additional discussions with decision-makers and policymakers will be held to ensure the continued effectiveness of the system.
