H.E. Mr. Bereket Fesehatsion, State Minister at FDRE Ministry of Planning and Development, served as a panelist today at a side event during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2025) in New York. Titled "Together for a Sustainable Future: Participatory Planning as the Key to Inclusive Development," the event was co-organized by Ethiopia, Czechia, Germany, Indonesia, and UN-Habitat.

In his remarks, State Minister Bereket underscored that participatory planning is a constitutional, institutional, and cultural approach in Ethiopia, empowering communities and strengthening democratic governance to localize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He shared Ethiopia's experience in leveraging this approach to achieve tangible progress in reducing regional disparities in healthcare (SDG 3), advancing gender equality (SDG 5), driving youth-centered economic inclusion (SDG 8), and fostering global-local partnerships (SDG 17).

The State Minister also highlighted Ethiopia's efforts to institutionalize participatory planning through robust data systems and digital transformation, including the "One Plan, One Report" framework for integrated planning. He affirmed Ethiopia's readiness to share its lessons and strengthen multilateral cooperation for inclusive and localized SDG implementation.
