The First Extraordinary Session of the African Peer Review Focal Points Steering Committee convened today, February 13, 2025, at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa.

The agenda for this meeting includes reviewing the draft selection criteria for appointing APR Panel members and discussing the legal opinion on the request for extending the tenure of current Panel members.

H.E. Dr. Fistum Assefa opened the session, emphasizing the importance of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in fostering good governance, democracy, and accountability across the continent. H.E underscored the vital role of APRM structures in demonstrating exemplary leadership in all their activities.

Following a productive discussion among the members of the Steering Committee, the two agenda items were addressed, and the meeting concluded successfully.
