H.E. State Minister Bereket Fesehatsion Delivers Keynote on Data-Driven Governance at UNDP Event

H.E. Mr. Bereket Fesehatsion, State Minister of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Planning and Development, delivered a keynote address today at the "Data to Policy: In the Age of Polycrisis, Advancing Evidence-Based Policymaking for the SDGs" event held at UNDP Headquarters in New York.
In his remarks, State Minister Bereket highlighted Ethiopia's reform agenda aimed at modernizing public institutions and leveraging data to foster trust and accelerate sustainable development. He underscored the growing challenges faced by governments globally amidst polycrises and stressed the critical role of data and technology, including AI, in shaping effective policies.
The State Minister also welcomed the launch of the "Data to Policy Champions Community," a new global peer learning network by UNDP and German Development Cooperation, which Ethiopia is actively joining for knowledge exchange and cooperation.
H.E. Bereket urged investment in inclusive, transparent, and innovative governance grounded in the responsible use of data to empower citizens and drive progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
