Ethiopia and India Strengthen Bilateral Ties at HLPF Sidelines in New York

Ethiopia and India held a high-level bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation in key sectors.
The meeting, led by H.E. Mr. Bereket Fisehatsion, State Minister of FDRE Ministry of Planning and Development, and H.E. Mr. Suman Bery, Vice Chairperson, National institution for Transforming India (NITI), focused on enhancing collaboration in energy, agriculture, tourism, institutional capacity building in education, and digital data systems. Both sides emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and technology to drive sustainable development.
In a significant gesture, State Minister Bereket extended an invitation to India to participate in the upcoming Second African Climate Summit, scheduled for September 8–10, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The summit, a pivotal platform for climate action and green growth, will welcome high-level delegations from across Africa and beyond.
The discussions underscored the long-standing partnership between Ethiopia and India, with both nations expressing optimism about future joint initiatives that align with their shared development goals.
